Relational Objects (Tower)

Relational Objects (Tower)

With the Relational Objects series, I set up material pairings that are physically reliant on each other. Using acrylic to hold up felt, or vice versa, and in some cases using felt as a joint to hold acrylic pieces together. This work uses materials as characters. The personhood of the characters is not fixed, but situational. Representing opposing characters or forces including, individual and community, self and other, bodily and external, fixed and flexible. Using the given properties of each material as a form of agency, each character performs as an autonomous entity within a relational set. Interdependence is illustrated through multiple bodies and materials.
